NCJW Recognizes Three Outstanding Rockland Seniors

For the 29th year, the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), Rockland Section has honored Rockland County high school students with their Community Service Awards. This year three deserving high school seniors have shown commitment and dedication to improving lives for others through their community service projects.  All the students exemplify the criteria of ongoing voluntary service. In recognition of their contributions, each winner has received a $1,000.00 scholarship and an award certificate from NCJW Rockland.  Karen Sherman from NCJW chairs the selection committee which annually grants these awards to foster continuing higher education and the spirit of volunteerism.

The 2026 award winners include:

Kelly Cowie of Pearl River Senior High School has volunteered her time and energy at Meals-on Wheels Rockland, serving food for those in need, Orangetown Youth Court, and Buddy Ball Sports, teaching skills to young athletes. Kelly will be attending the University of Georgia to study business and explore a path in pre-law that would allow her to advocate for others.

Hunter Stoll of North Rockland High School has put in many hours volunteering for over four years. He served as an EMT and youth squad leader with Stony Point Ambulance Corps, trained others in EMS skills at Rockland County EMS Training Academy and volunteered with Stony Point Police PAL. Hunter will be attending Alvernia University in Reddington, PA to study medicine as he plans to practice in underserved communities.

Kaylee Paredes of North Rockland High School has spent over 100 hours serving her community at Rotary Youth Leadership Awards as Junior Councilor for high school juniors, at Proyecto Faro she has helped those in need of food and clothing, and assisted students  at St. Peter’s and St. Mary’s Church. Kaylee will start college in the fall at Villa Nova University, Villa Nova, PA.

NCJW Rockland is proud to acknowledge these three students for their service to their community. They exemplify what NCJW strives for: social justice, improving the quality of life for women, children, families and safeguarding individual rights and freedoms in our community and internationally.  Learn more at www.ncjw-rockland.org.
