Honest Question:
After the Knicks lost Game 3 of their Round 1 series to the Atlanta Hawks, did you think this would be the situation?
Seven consecutive wins. Historic blowouts, all time shooting performances and utter domination.
Well, believe it.
The Knicks have responded in the most epic way possible over their past seven playoff games.
Three consecutive blowouts of the Atlanta Hawks and a 4 game Eastern Conference Semi Final sweep over the Philadelphia 76ers.
The credit simply goes everywhere.
Head Coach Mike Brown was going to be judged on how his team performed in the postseason.
I want to see how a team handles adversity and responds.
The Knicks faced early postseason adversity in the Hawks series and the Head Coach made a tremendous adjustment.
Mike Brown stressed that the offense run through Karl Anthony Towns at the top of the 3 point line.
Since that adjustment, the Knicks have played a brand of basketball offensively that the Championship teams of the late 60s and early 70s would be proud of.
The ball movement has been top notch, it’s been a different hero game in and game out and, oh yeah, it helps that you have Jalen Brunson to help bring you home down the stretch if need be.
Defensively, the Knicks have locked in remarkably.
When you win seven consecutive playoff games, six of them by double figures and multiple close out games with the back of the bench playing the entire 4th quarter, you know life is good!
The Knicks will have a week to bask in the glory of back to back Eastern Conference Finals appearances.
I would not be concerned about the rust factor, because the week off for beat up OG Anunoby will be incredibly beneficial.
They will await the winner of the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers.
I know the Pistons beat the Knicks all three matchups in the regular season and played a very tough first round series a year ago, but quite frankly if the Knicks continue to play the way they have played, it won’t matter.
The Knicks have the look and the feel of a team destined to get back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
Let the good times roll.
