Stabbing Takes Place in Nyack

On Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers from the Clarkstown Police Department responded to a reported stabbing at a residence located on Vine Street in Central Nyack. 

Upon arrival, officers entered the residence and located an adult male seated on a bed suffering from stab wounds to his back and upper chest. The victim reported that he had been involved in an argument with the suspect earlier that day, at approximately 11:00 a.m., during which he was stabbed in the back. The victim further stated that he returned home at approximately 11:00 p.m., at which time he woke the suspect, and a second argument ensued. During that altercation, the suspect stabbed him again, causing serious physical injuries and significant bleeding. 

Members of Nyack Community Ambulance Corps provided medical treatment at the scene before transporting the victim to a local hospital for further care. 

The suspect, Catherine Doran, a 64 year-old female from Central Nyack, was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses: 

• Assault in the Second Degree (D Felony) 
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Misdemeanor) 

Doran was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending further court proceedings. 

It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
