Report from Clarkstown PD
On August 11, 2012 at approximately 4:50 a.m. a 41-year-old man from Central Nyack was sitting in his car in front of his residence when another man walked up to the car and fired a shot from a handgun through the car door window striking the victim in the left upper arm. The victim was able to drive himself to Nyack Hospital. In turn, the hospital contacted the Clarkstown Police Department and an investigation was commenced.
The investigation revealed the identity of the shooter to be Jonathan Dunn, 31, from Central Nyack. Clarkstown Police, with the assistance of Ramapo Police, arrested Dunn at approximately 1:30 p.m. same date, after a traffic stop was conducted in the vicinity of Sherri Lane in Ramapo. Dunn was charged with attempted murder 2nd, assault 1st, and criminal possession of a weapon 4th.
Dunn was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court before Judge Thorsen and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 cash. None of the victim’s injuries appear to be life threatening. At this time, the weapon has not been recovered and the investigation continues.
