CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD SIGNS FIRST MAJOR TENANT FOR PALISADES DATA CENTER

348 Rt 9W_View_Darker_1Commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., which was awarded the marketing assignment for Palisades Data Center in November, has signed the 24,000-square-foot, Tier 3+ facility’s first major tenant. A major New York-based quantitative trading and investment strategies firm has leased 250 KW, expandable to 500 KW. Owner Skae Power Solutions, which also utilizes the site as its headquarters, was represented in the transaction by Sean Brady, senior director and co-founder of Cushman & Wakefield’s Data Center Advisory Group, along with Brian Walsh, both of the firm’s East Rutherford, N.J. office. The new tenant’s space provides room for 60 IT cabinets.

“The site is located in a very safe area that was not affected by Superstorm Sandy or Hurricane Irene,” said Brady. “The tenant chose the site because it is closely monitored and staffed by Skae Power Solutions’ critical engineers, as well as for its truly redundant fiber routing in major markets, with Hudson River crossings to the north and south, as well as direct connections to 165 Halsey Street in Newark and 111 8th Avenue in New York.”

One of the region’s leading providers of mission critical systems, power solutions and engineering services, Skae Power Solutions was formed by Peter Skae in 1998 and relocated to the newly constructed Palisades Data Center site in 2011. Situated near the New York State Thruway and Palisades Interstate Parkway just 20 miles from midtown Manhattan and 30 miles from Newark, N.J., the state-of-the art 24,000 square foot facility includes data center space, disaster recovery space, and office space designated as business continuity space supported by a network operating center featuring remote monitoring services. The data center space, featuring a Tier 3+ design, is sized for 200 cabinets with an average density of eight kW per cabinet or greater. The entire facility offers emergency power, multiple redundant fiber paths and card access. The facility’s remaining space is available for immediate occupancy, and the landlord will build to suit.
