The Board ofย Trustees and staff of the West Nyack Free Library are pleased to announce the hiring of Eugeniaย Schatoff as library director, effective Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
The hiring follows the announcedย retirement of Rita Tavel Fogelman who has served as the libraryโs Director for the past 16 years.ย Ms. Schatoff, a native of Valley Cottage and a graduate of Nyack High School, will beย responsible for the planning, direction, supervision, and general day-to-day oversight of theย operations of the library.
In addition, Ms. Schatoff will work with the Board of Trustees, staff,ย and community to develop and implement a strategic plan for the libraryโs future, and she willย work to expand community outreach by building upon existing partnerships with patrons,ย schools, organizations, and local businesses.
Ms. Schatoff returns to her hometown of Rockland County by way of Watervliet, NY, where sheย has served as Director of Watervliet Public Library since 2011. Prior to serving in Watervliet,ย Ms. Schatoff worked as a Librarian for the Bethlehem Public Library in Delmar, NY, as well asย for Niskayuna High School in Niskayuna, NY.
Ms. Schatoff is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, where she earned aย dual MA/MSIS in Russian and Information Science. She received her BA in Eastern Europeanย Area Studies from Excelsior College.
Ms. Schatoff currently serves on the Upper Hudson Library System Central Library Committeeย and has actively served on regional committees over the years. Recently Ms. Schatoff wasย selected as one of the American Library Associationโs Emerging Leaders for 2013.
The Board of Trustees said they look forward to a “rewarding partnership” as Ms.ย Schatoff directs the West Nyack Free Public Library in the years to come.
