Legislature Committee to Discuss Term Limits for County Exec and Legislators

A bill sponsored by Legislator Douglas Jobson Jr. and county executive candidate Legislator Ed Day would place a term limit on the position of county executive and legislator of three four-year terms. The proposal is set to be discussed at Wednesday’s meeting of the Rules Committee.

Day’s competitor Legislator Ilan Schoenberger (D) has also suggested term limits for county executive. He has said in public he would like to see the position limited to two four-year terms or, if voters are feeling up for it, one six-year term.

Also set to be discussed at Wednesday’s Rule Committee meeting, a resolution in support of state legislation to require forfeiture of pension monies for any lawmaker convicted of a felony pertaining to his or her work as an elected official.
