Legislature Committee to Discuss Term Limits for County Exec and Legislators

A bill sponsored by Legislator Douglas Jobson Jr. and county executive candidate Legislator Ed Day would place a term limit on the position of county executive and legislator of three four-year terms. The proposal is set to be discussed at Wednesdayโ€™s meeting of the Rules Committee.

Dayโ€™s competitor Legislator Ilan Schoenberger (D) has also suggested term limits for county executive. He has said in public he would like to see the position limited to two four-year terms or, if voters are feeling up for it, one six-year term.

Also set to be discussed at Wednesdayโ€™s Rule Committee meeting, a resolution in support of state legislation to require forfeiture of pension monies for any lawmaker convicted of a felony pertaining to his or her work as an elected official.
