The town of Haverstraw recently honored volunteers from the annual Watchfires ceremony: Mike Hatala, James Mickinowski, Robert Bates, Peter MacTaggart, John Fay, Richard and John Smith, Peter and Jason Novak, Joe Sarvis, Tom Carol and Bill Kelemen. The town presented the volunteers with the Town of Haverstraw Distinguished Service Award at a recent Town Board meeting. Supervisor Howard Phillips said, “These volunteers have demonstrated their devotion and commitment to those who did not come home and we are proud to have them in our community.”
