Members of the Thiells United Methodist Church, located on Rosman Road in Thiells, last Saturday cleared out about $12,000 worth of clothes and other donated items damaged when a tree fell and smashed into the roof of the church’s Thrift Shoppe.

Church members salvaged items for St. Pauly’s, a Western New York company that distrbutes used clothing to the needy. Starting with already donated monies, the church, headed by the Reverend Bernie Khaw, hopes to have the Thrift Shoppe back in operation soon and gain the benefit of an expanded upward new fellowship room, bathroom facilities and handicapped accessibility. Currently churchgoers go downstairs for fellowship and bathroom use. More money is needed to add an additional bathroom.Methodist Church. Foliage 11.2.13 007
