Mr. Dylan,
I have seen advertisements on television for the Startup-NY campaign, which involves efforts to draw more businesses to New York. A review of the campaign’s website gives several reasons that companies might consider in relocating to New York; two of which seemed out of place considering recent events in the state.
These reasons, that New York has a “Diverse and talented workforce” and is a “Great place to work and live” are brought into perspective by the recent comments of Governor Cuomo and Mayor DeBlasio, both of who said that there is no place in New York for “These extreme conservatives, who are right to life, pro assault weapon, anti-gay, is that who they are? Because if that is who they are, and if they are the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York because that is not who New Yorkers are.”
Mayor DeBlasio said he is in full agreement with Governor Cuomo.
I take that to mean that everyone who is a “real” New Yorker believes that a mother has the right to kill her unborn child up to the last moment before delivery, could never own a rifle that looks like an assault weapon but fires only single rounds, and that marriage is between a man and a woman. And I thought liberals were tolerant and accepting people.
How can New York claim to have a “Diverse and talented workforce” given the fact that the governor wants all of the folks mentioned above to leave the state? That is diversity? Why would anyone want to move to New York when over 3 million have fled in the last 13 years?
I have a suggestion for an article for your paper. How about comparing what the governor and mayor said against what the Startup-Ny.com campaign is putting out?
Sincerely,
Mike Ricketts
