A long time family-owned small business went under in January, apparently pressured by the arrival of a corporate competitor a quarter mile down the road.

Premier Fitness of Nanuet had been helping Rocklanders get in shape for well over a decade and survived the arrival of Planet Fitness several years ago a mile and a half down the road. However, with the advent of the mammoth 24-Hour Fitness within walking distance at the new Shops at Nanuet, Premier threw in the towel.

Prior to the arrival of 24-Hour, Premier had lobbied to keep the giant out of the area, but to no avail.
