The AHA TriCounty Heart Walk event is set for Sunday, May 4th at Lake Welch Beach at Harriman State Park. The Heart Walk is the AHAโs biggest annual event, raising more than $340,000 for AHA programs and research at last yearโs event.
This year, the AHA supported over 127 research studies in New York State alone and five of the AHA-funded researchers are in the Hudson Valley receiving $1.43 million in grants. American Heart Association-funded research has led to the discovery and development of many treatments and procedures that were once science fiction. Things like CPR, pacemakers, cardiac catheterization, bypass surgery, stents & clot-busting drugs were all American Heart Association research innovations.
Nice-Pak /PDIโs executive vice president, Jonathan Kupperman, recently coordinated a National Walking Day event at their workplace to promote the health of their employees and raise funds for their AHA Heart Walk team. Employees took a walking break on their campus walking path to take steps for healthier hearts. The company typically sends a team of 60 employees to represent Nice-Pak/PDI for the Heart Walk.
โI canโt think of a better organization to support. They care about employee health as much as we do and we know the funds raised will help so many hearts in our community,โ said Kupperman[JK6] .
