AHA HEART WALK COMING SOON

IMG_1103The AHA TriCounty Heart Walk event is set for Sunday, May 4th at Lake Welch Beach at Harriman State Park. The Heart Walk is the AHAโ€™s biggest annual event, raising more than $340,000 for AHA programs and research at last yearโ€™s event.

This year, the AHA supported over 127 research studies in New York State alone and five of the AHA-funded researchers are in the Hudson Valley receiving $1.43 million in grants. American Heart Association-funded research has led to the discovery and development of many treatments and procedures that were once science fiction. Things like CPR, pacemakers, cardiac catheterization, bypass surgery, stents & clot-busting drugs were all American Heart Association research innovations.

Nice-Pak /PDIโ€™s executive vice president, Jonathan Kupperman, recently coordinated a National Walking Day event at their workplace to promote the health of their employees and raise funds for their AHA Heart Walk team. Employees took a walking break on their campus walking path to take steps for healthier hearts. The company typically sends a team of 60 employees to represent Nice-Pak/PDI for the Heart Walk.

โ€œI canโ€™t think of a better organization to support. They care about employee health as much as we do and we know the funds raised will help so many hearts in our community,โ€ said Kupperman[JK6] .
