Hotel robbery leaves front desk clerks tied and bound for second time in two weeks

For the second time in two weeks a local hotel was robbed by a man who tied up front desk attendants while making off with money from the desk cash register. In both cases the perp was described as a black male around 6′ tall, leading to speculation that the cases are related.

On Friday, June 13, 2014 at 1:59 a.m., the Clarkstown Police Department responded to 270 W. Rt. 59, the Hilton Garden Inn, in Nanuet, for a report of an armed robbery. Two female victims, both hotel employees, said that a male entered the hotel and asked for a room. The male then displayed a gray semi-automatic pistol and had the employees go into a back office where he proceeded to zip tie the victims hands and feet.

The suspect fled the scene with a small safe that he pryed off the wall, a desktop computer and the purse of one of the victims. The victims believe the suspect was able to take approximately $400 from the front desk, as well. The contents of the safe are unknown at this time.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6’ feet tall, between 30-35 years of age, wearing a skull cap, gray sweat suit, blue jeans, black boots and had a scar on his face. He fled the scene in an unknown direction.

In the Howard Johnson robbery, which occurred on Wednesday, June 4, a perp bound a hotel clerk at the wrist while making off with loot from the front desk.
