Clarkstown’s Adam Chanler-Berat starring in “Fortress of Solitude” at New York’s Public Theatre

Adam Chanler Berat, son of Shelley and Bert Berat of Pomona, cut his acting teeth as a student at Clarkstown schools and the sky has been the limit since.

The latest in his career exploits was a complete a run off-Broadway in “Fly By Night.” He is now appearing in “Fortress of Solitude” at New York’s Public Theatre, a production he previously starred in at the Dallas, Texas Theatre Center.

Berat plays Dylan, the only white boy on a rundown Brooklyn block. His mom runs away and leaves him alone with one friend, a black boy Mingus, who saves Dylan from loneliness and racial belligerence.

The production has a a lot of rhythm and blues music and is a story of 1970s Brooklyn and beyond. Of white and black, soul & rap, block parties and blackouts.
