In celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day, The United Sportsmen Association of Rockland County and the Town of Clarkstown will be hosting a free event at Congers Lake Park in Congers, NY on Sept. 27, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will feature reps from the DEC as well as Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, The Grouse Society, The Rockland County Trappers, Cornell Cooperative and many other outdoor organizations. There will be fly tying and casting demos, archery demos and instruction as well as hunting dog demos, both on land and in the water.
A fishing derby will be held for kids on the 100-acre Congers Lake lake with the DEC supplying 100 rods, reels and bait. No NYS fishing license will be required for any one over the age of 16 (under the age of 16 a license is not required to fish in NYS).
