The Life Support Technologies group (LST) has partnered with Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center’s (GSRMC) Wound and Hyperbaric Institute for over five years and has now guided it through a vigorous program review that has resulted in GSRMC’s being awarded Re-Accreditation with Distinction by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). GSRMC’s Wound and Hyperbaric Institute uses a comprehensive approach to treating wounds, which may include nutritional counseling, resolution of infections, surgical debridement, skin grafting, and the adjunctive use of hyperbaric oxygen.
Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center is only the second facility in the lower NY State region to provide this level of service, according to the UHMS, the leading hyperbaric medicine authority in the nation. Recently, LST guided the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor, NY to obtain reaccreditation with distinction. The only other hospital in New York State to achieve this is Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, a 400-bed teaching hospital.
