Running a hard, honest village trustee campaign usually costs less than $5,000. But having your opponents send out election artwork with a photo of the wrong village on it just before Election Day? That’s priceless.
Incumbent candidates for Village of Suffern trusteeย Jo Corrigan (D) and Jack Meehan (D) sent out artwork featuring the Village of Haverstraw instead of Suffern to most voters just days before November 4. Republicansย Ed Markunas and Bob Morris figure to be the beneficiary of the epic gaffe by their opponents.
Orangetown Democrat Chris Smith posted the artwork to his Facebook page, stating, “Now I’ve seen some stupid stuff in politics but this definitely takes the cake. So two current Suffern Trustees are running for reelection, they send out a mailer to everyone in town taking abt [sic] the downtown. Yet the picture on the mailer is of DOWNTOWN HAVERSTRAW NOT SUFFERN!! What in the world is wrong with these guys?!”
