Mayor Wright warns Sloatsburg of sex offender, invites public to Dec. 17 meeting

LETTER FROM MAYOR CARL WRIGHT TO SLOATSBURG COMMUNITY

Please be advised that a level 2 sex offender, Edward Bott, who served approximately 13-14 years in prison for sexual abuse has been assigned to live in Sloatsburg. He is being placed in an area that is close to swimming facilities, a playground and a park and is populated by a large number of young children.

Our residents are deeply concerned and outraged by the placement of this individual in such a location. It is equivalent to a recovering alcoholic being given an apartment at a brewery. It may be that the state was unaware of the youth population and facilities that were in the neighborhood. Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and the Ramapo Police Department in conjunction will hold a meeting on Wednesday, December 17 at the Municipal Building commencing at 7 p.m. to discuss the situation and address the concerns of the residents.
