The Thruway’s new cashless tolling system for the TZ Bridge is set to go into effect April 23. At that time drivers will receive a bill in the mail based on their license plate number, if they do not use EZ-Pass. There will be no toll lanes. About 80 percent of bridge traffic is signed up with EZ-Pass.
Due to work on the electronic toll collection system overnight lane closures are scheduled from Wednesday, April 6, to Friday, April 8 as well as the closure of the exit 10 on-ramp overnight on April 8. Between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. on April 6, and, April 7 police will conduct periodic traffic stops for up to 10 minutes on all four lanes of the southbound Thruway from exit 11 to the Tappan Zee bridge. Construction of noise barriers is set to continue along the Thruway for next week.
