Ramapo police free fox from illegal trap

Ramapo police officers responded to Kathryn Gorman Park in Montebello recently in response to a reported fox caught in an illegal hunting trap. With the assistance of DEC officer Galvin, Ramapo officers were able to secure the fox and turned over the injured animal to Marilyn Leybra who is involved in local wildlife rehabilitation.

RPD issued the following warning to the public: “Not only is illegal hunting and trapping in a public park a danger to wildlife, it could also endanger the residents and their children who use these parks regularly.”
