A 5K Fun Run sponsored by Senator David Carlucci will be held next Thursday, May 19 in support of the Larissa Karasik Foundation.
Sadly, last May in Warren County, New York, Felix Festa Middle School student Larissa Karasik was killed when a vehicle driven by a drunk driver drove through a stop sign and crashed into her car.
Larissa was an active member of Senator Carlucci’s Student Advisory Committee and had just weeks earlier traveled to Albany to participate in the Senator’s annual Mock Session on the floor of the Senate. Larissa’s mother, Anastasia Karassik, formed the Larissa Karassik Foundation, which helps families who are in need of food, clothing, emotional support, etc. following a tragedy as well as raise awareness on the dangers of drunk and drugged driving.
Donations raised from this 5K Fun Run, held May 19 at Rockland Lake State Park at 6 p.m., will benefit both the Larissa Karasik Foundation and the Rockland Road Runners Scholarship Fund. To sign up to participate, runners can call Senator Carlucci’s office at 845-623-3627.
