In March of 1638, a small Swedish ship the โKalmar Nyckelโ dropped anchor at โThe Rocksโ (Wilmington, Delaware.) On board was a 15-year-old Dutch boy named Gerrit Hendricksen. Although without absolute certainty, local historians believe this Gerrit is the first Blauvelt in America. He is the Founding Father of the Blauvelt Family. Learn more from speaker Ralph Blauvelt, president of the Association of Blauvelt Descendants. Sunday, October 2, 2 p.m. at King’s Daughters Library, Garnerville.
