In Rockland County, one in 10 people are living in poverty, many don’t know where their next meal will be coming from.
From Nov. 1 through Nov. 21, PostNet in Suffern, a local printing and shipping small business located at 74 Lafayette Ave., hosted a food drive to collect dry and canned food items for those in need.
On Nov. 21, Senator David Carlucci appeared at PostNet to give away the collection from the PostNet Food Drive along with turkeys to representatives from some of the neediest soup kitchens in the area.
“There are 30,000 people in poverty in Rockland County alone, and that’s a tough number to swallow,” said Mauricio Aufgang, owner of PostNet in Suffern. “With the help of our customers and neighbors, we hope to make a difference.”
