Unsung Hero: Lt. Scott Silva, Piermont Fire Department Volunteer Underwater Recovery Diver
The red drysuit, worn by Lt. Scott Silva, provides environmental protection from very cold water and contaminants. Temperature is regulated by the use of an insulating layer of air between the body and waterproof outer layer. In addition, seals and heavier materials are used to keep the wearer dry.
