District 7 Candidate: Philip Soskin, Democratic/Conservative

Born in New York City, current District 7 Legislator Philip Soskin grew up in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx. After earning a B.A. in Business Administration from the CUNY Baruch School of Business, he served in the U.S. Army for two years on active duty, where he was stationed in France for 18 months. Soskin moved from New York City to Monsey, New York in 1968, where he works as a self-employed Licensed New York State Public Accountant. Soskin served as President and other positions at B’nai Jeshurun Synagogue of Monsey, on the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Service of Rockland County and as an advisor on the Jewish War Veterans Fred Hecht Post. He is also the father of three children, grandfather of 10, and great grandfather of four.

Soskin serves as Monsey Area Chairman of Ramapo Democratic Committee and has formerly served as the Chairman of Ramapo Democratic Orthodox Caucus, a former Member of Rockland County Workers’ Compensation Self Insurance Committee, former Member of Town of Ramapo Planning Board and former Chairman of Citizens Advisory Committee for Community Development Funds. He is currently a Deputy Majority Leader in the county and Chair of the county Multi-Services Committee.
