Civil & Human Rights Hall of Fame Nominations Being Accepted

The Rockland County Commission on Human Rights is calling for nominations of individuals to be inducted into the Rockland County Civil & Human Rights Hall of Fame.

Founded in 2003 to celebrate 40 years of its existence, the Rockland County Civil/Human Rights Hall Fame initiative seeks submissions of local individuals who have made great personal sacrifices in contributing to Civil and Human Rights in Rockland County. The mission of the Rockland County Civil/Human Rights Hall of Fame is to recognize individuals who have exemplified: leadership, notable achievement, personal sacrifice and lasting impact.

All Hall of Fame inductees are nominated by the community and selected by a panel of community leaders, which may include, but not limited to the cur- rent staff of the Rockland County Human Rights office.

Civil/Hall of Fame Nomination requirements:

Submission of a typed narrative (not to exceed 350 words), which outlines the nominee’s community achievements, accomplishments, and contributions to Human/Civil Rights in Rockland County.

The narrative must include the information about the nominee’s contributions and efforts to eliminate mitigating discrimination, as well as Human or Civil Rights endeavors in Rockland County via exemplary leadership and advocacy for equality through actions, words and deeds, outstanding achievements, and/ or accomplishments within the Civil/Human Rights arena.

* Supporting documentation is encouraged and welcomed, but not required (photos, films, C.D.s, books). However, please do not submit originals, as they will not be returned.

Submission of a completed official Nomination Form, including three (3) Letters of Support, explaining why the Nominee should be considered for induction into the “Hall of Fame”. (self-nominations will not be considered) Submission deadline is 1/31/2024 at 5:00PM.
