Suspect arrested after calling in phony bomb threat

The Ramapo Police Investigations Unit has arrested a 14-year-old for initiating a bomb threat incident at Suffern High School on September 21, 2023. As a result of the report, the school was evacuated with a coordinated response from several law enforcement agencies.

On Monday, January 15, following a four-month investigation, police arrested the child, who was charged with a felony of falsely reporting an incident. The youth was processed and released pending an appearance in Rockland County Family Court.

Ramapo Police were assisted in the investigation by their officers assigned to the FBI Task Force and the Suffern Police Department. The Suffern Central School District also cooperated during the course of the investigation.

The suspect’s identity is being withheld by police due to their age.
