How many Rockland County Times readers have been yearning to see a local politician get roasted?
Quite a few, for sure. Well, one local pol is a good enough sport to let some fellow politicians and friends give him a “roasting” in the comedy sense, and all for a good cause.
This April, Town of Haverstraw Supervisor Howard T. Phillips, Jr. has volunteered to sit on the hot seat at a fundraiser for Leo Laders American Legion Post 130, Thiells. It’s sure to be the hottest ticket in town as a who’s who cast including next-town-over Supervisor Geoffrey Finn and his predecessor Judge Bill Sherwood release some pent-up Stony Point id on the willing victim and former Sheriff Jim Kralik, longtime Journal News columnist (retired) Bob Baird, ex-Haverstraw Fire Chief Pat McNamee, famous North Rockland Central School District Athletic Director Joe Casarella and a few “mystery guests” all let loose.
The event will take place at Platzl Brauhaus, 127 Call Hollow Road in Pomona on April 26. Tickets are $85 per person, $160 for a couple and $990 for a table of 12. Seating is first come first serve, cocktail hour begins at 7 p.m. and dinner will be served at 8 p.m.
Leo Laders bills the Roast as “the premier event of 2014 that everyone has been waiting for.”
