Missing Pomona man found dead in Stony Point

STONY POINT – The search for a missing Pomona man ended in Stony Point on Sunday evening when he was found dead in a local park.

Stony Point Police were notified of the disappearance of Daniel Hansen, 27, of 10 Hobbs Court, by Haverstraw Town Police at around 6:53 p.m. After they were told that Hansen might be somewhere in the town, a search was initiated.

Shortly thereafter, Stony Point Police found Hansen under the Farley Bridge by Charles S. Eccher Park, which is located south of Main Street, just off Route 9W on Lowland Hill Road. Hansen was declared dead at the scene.

According to Stony Point Police Lt. Keith Williams, Hansen’s car was also found nearby, parked in the parking lot of a local business.

The Rockland County Medical Examiner removed the body and is expected to determine a cause of death. However, Stony Point Police stated on Monday that initial examination did not seem to suggest foul play.

[Correction – this article briefly contained a typo that referred to Route 9W as Route 202]
